Day 1 of 9
Become attentive
Reflect
Before solving a problem, notice what is actually happening within and around you. Name your hopes, pressures, and responsibilities without immediately deciding what they mean. Prayerful attention creates room for a freer response. Begin with the day you have, rather than the ideal life you wish you were discerning.

Father, through St. Ignatius's intercession, help me become attentive to your grace. Receive the intention I bring to these nine days. Show me the needs and choices before me without letting anxiety decide them all. Give me honest self-knowledge, patience, and a growing desire to serve you faithfully. Amen.

Begin with gratitude
Reflect
Reviewing a day can quickly become a list of failures. Begin instead with gifts received, including small acts of care and opportunities to do good. Gratitude does not erase what needs attention. It provides a truthful setting in which you can examine difficulties without reducing your life to them.

Generous God, with St. Ignatius's prayers, open my eyes to the gifts of this day. Help me recognize kindness, useful work, and chances to begin again. Free me from overlooking what is good. Let gratitude make my reflection more honest and my response to tomorrow more generous. Amen.

Notice what moves your choices
Reflect
Desire, fear, resentment, and love can all influence a decision. None should be named too quickly as God's voice. Notice which patterns lead toward greater honesty and care, and which leave you closed in on yourself. Seek perspective over time rather than treating one strong emotion as a complete answer.

Lord, through St. Ignatius's intercession, help me understand what is moving my choices. Give me freedom from impulsive judgments and from the need to justify what I already want. Teach me to examine patterns patiently, seek wise counsel, and choose what leads toward truth, responsibility, and love. Amen.

Ask for interior freedom
Reflect
We may ask God to guide a choice while refusing to consider any answer except our favorite. Freedom grows as we loosen the demand for approval, comfort, or control. This does not mean becoming indifferent to people. It means becoming more available to what genuinely serves their good.

Reflecting on a Gospel scene can bring a decision into a different light. Notice how Jesus treats someone, what he values, and what he refuses to overlook. Let that attention challenge your priorities. Avoid forcing a passage to provide a convenient answer it does not actually give.

Examine the day gently
Reflect
A daily review can include gratitude, difficult moments, responsibility, and hope for tomorrow. Attend to one event rather than trying to understand everything at once. Ask where love was welcomed or resisted. Let the review lead to a concrete response instead of an endless argument with yourself.

Seek wise accompaniment
Reflect
A trusted guide can help you notice what is difficult to see alone. Choose someone who respects your freedom, responsibilities, and the seriousness of the question. Share the relevant facts honestly. Guidance becomes less useful when we hide information that might challenge the answer we hope to receive.

Give me patience to discern carefully and freedom to take responsibility for my choices rather than asking someone else to live them for me. Amen.

Act with generosity
Reflect
Discernment should eventually make a good action possible. When sufficient reflection and counsel have clarified a responsible step, continued hesitation may become avoidance. You cannot guarantee every result. Offer the choice to God, make an appropriate plan, and remain willing to learn as circumstances unfold.
