Walk toward Easter

Holy Week, Day by Day

Holy Week leads us through Christ’s Passion toward the joy of the Resurrection. Begin by checking your parish’s schedule; the liturgies have their own times and shape.

Palm Sunday

The Church recalls Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem and proclaims the Passion. At home, read part of a Gospel Passion account and ask how you can follow Jesus when discipleship becomes difficult.

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday

Make room for Scripture and a practical act of reconciliation. If you plan to go to confession, check the parish schedule early rather than assuming it will be available at any moment.

Holy Thursday

The evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper begins the Paschal Triduum. Remember Christ’s gift of the Eucharist and his example of service. Read John 13:1–15 and take on a humble task for someone else.

Good Friday

The Church commemorates the Passion of the Lord; Mass is not celebrated. Spend time with the Cross, attend the parish liturgy if possible, or pray the Stations. Review the U.S. fasting and abstinence guidance if it applies to you.

Holy Saturday

Let some quiet remain. The Easter Vigil is celebrated after nightfall, welcoming the light of Christ’s Resurrection. Families can prepare for Easter without losing this day’s sense of waiting.

Easter Sunday

Celebrate Christ risen from the dead. Give thanks at Mass and in your home. Carry one act of mercy or renewed relationship from Lent into the Easter season.
